Concept
Character drawing concept for a game. The art direction of the game will be with Cel Shading, so is important that the concepts try to focus on cartoon or anime.
Initial concept
The initial idea was that the character should be flying in the sky with her broom. The face should be clearly visible since the facial features should be seen.
Draft Done
After the initial draft was done, base color was needed to be added to give more life to the draft. The image below was used as reference for base colors.
When we finished to add the base color, we should look up for light and shadows, I used the image from the Studio Ghibli as reference for shadows and light because of the resemblance with the selected pose.
Final Design
In the end the final concept resemblance with the seccond reference image was very high, since the use of the selected base colors was very similar, so we decided to go a little different with the backgroud. The first idea was to have ground and some mountais in the background, but we choose to use the clear skies to give impression to higer altitude.
